During our stay at Willka T’ika guests will experience outdoor herbal baths; therapeutic massage; daily yoga classes; nutritious farm to table vegetarian meals; and the well known chakra gardens which hold a variety of healing herbs. From our Willka T’ika base camp we will explore the Sacred Valley through daily trips including Machu Picchu; Rainbow Mountain; Urubumba; and Moray. Our vision for the retreat is to offer guests a range of cultural experiences, deepening their understanding of Inca culture; create an environment in which guests can decompress and relax from their daily routines; and celebrate life through daily yoga practice while absorbing the high energetic frequencies of the Sacred Valley.

The Yoga:

This retreat is a collaboration between Next Level Yoga Community and Synergy Yoga! You will enjoy daily morning yoga classes led by Pedro Luna, Francisco Morales-Bermudez, and Salim Rollins. Classes will be all levels, with a combination of Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin.  Plus a wonderful opportunity to participate in an afternoon Synergy Partner Yoga workshop: this healing art form incorporates traditional Thai massage, yoga, martial arts, and ancient medicinal practices and will allow us to come together to cultivate trust, connection, playfulness, healing, and community. There may be an opportunity for additional evening yin and restorative classes as well.

The Itinerary:

Day 1: Saturday, August 31st

Arrivals

Guests will be picked up from Cusco Airport by our driving staff between 1-4 PM and taken to Willka Tika

Dinner: Willka Tika

Day 2: Sunday, September 1st

Morning Yoga

Breakfast: Willka Tika

Guests can receive an herbal bath, massage and/or a coca leaf reading at Willka T’ika hotel. Additionally, we will have a tour of the chakra gardens. Treatments can be booked through the hotel registration.

Lunch: Willka T’ika

Afternoon presentation: Inca agriculture. Presenter: Mariela Baca, Director Urubamba Rising

Day 3: Monday, September 2nd

Morning Yoga

Breakfast: Willka T’ika

Following breakfast, we’ll visit the Urubamba Farmers Market which is a ten minute drive from the hotel. Andean culture holds a deep respect for the earth and its harvest as expressed through the divine feminine energy of Pachamama. At the Urubamba market we will see the local crops including fruits, vegetables, nuts, spices, coffee and more.

After our visit to the market, we’ll walk fifteen minutes to the Seminario Ceramics Center. Founders Pablo & Marilu Seminario have been an integral part of preserving & celebrating Inca ceramic artistry.

Lunch: Da Colektor Cafe

Following our visit to Seminario Ceramics Center we’ll cross the street and have lunch at Da Colektor Cafe, known for its lovely modern/rustic design and healthy menu.

Workshop: Synergy Partner Yoga

Dinner: Willka T’ika

Day 4: Tuesday, September 3rd

Having spent a few days acclimating to the Sacred Valley, we set off on a journey to Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain). The Journey to Vinicunca “Rainbow Mountain” will take us through remote Inca Villages where we’ll see packs of wild llamas and alpacas. We’ll rise up early and depart for the two hour journey. * recommended clothing: hat; hiking boots; rain gear; gloves; sweater or light down jacket

Breakfast: packed and eaten during the road trip

Hike Rainbow Mountain: the hike is approximately 2.5 hours to the summit; 1.5 hours descent.

Vinicunca or “Rainbow Mountain” is an incredible mountain of colors that receives its name due to the mineral deposits and the geological formation accumulated over millennia. The mixture of marine, lake and river elements contribute to its extraordinary appearance. Vinicunca represents the Sacred Feminine in the Andean trilogy.

Lunch: we’ll have lunch at a lovely restaurant at the base of Rainbow Mountain. After lunch we head back to Willka T’ika.

Day 5: Wednesday, September 4th

Morning Yoga

Breakfast: Willka T’ika

Following breakfast the group will travel 45 mins to the salt mines of Maras for a cultural immersion and education of the salt flats.

Lunch: Don Angel Inka Casona Restaurant which has a lovely buffet!

Following lunch we will visit a workshop of Chinchero weavers. The weavers will give us a presentation sharing their traditional dyeing techniques and the ancient stories that are embedded within their designs. These images pay homage to the natural elements and the universal balance of femine and masculine energies. Chinchero is also notable for having maintained Inca culture in spite of attempts by the Spanish to “civilize” and reform the culture.The residents of Chincero have handed down the ancient textile science of the Inca including traditional looms; the use of various herbs, plants and vegetation for their dyes; and Incan designs which hold cultural values that have a lot to teach us our current time.

Day 6: Thursday, September 5th

Breakfast: Willka T’ika

Free day to enjoy massages, herbal baths, visit the town of Ollantaytambo or Urubumba. Also an option to go horseback riding!

Day 7: Friday, September 6th

Early Breakfast: Willka T’ika

Following breakfast we’ll drive for one hour to Ollantaytambo where we’ll board a train to Aguas Calientes, the town that rests at the foot of Machu Picchu! From Aguas Caliente we’ll take a bus ascending the mountain to the sacred site of Machu Picchu. Michu Picchu is the

most widely recognized site of the Inca civilization. We will go on a guided tour of the sacred site and gain a deeper understanding of its function in Inca society and how it was constructed.

Lunch: Aguas Caliente (at the base of Machu Picchu) * guests will pay for lunch themselves

Following lunch we will board the train back to Ollantaytambo. A bus will pick us up at the train station and take us back to Willka Tika for dinner.

Day 8: Saturday, September 7th

Morning Yoga

Breakfast: Willka T’ika

This will be a day for massages, herbal baths, cocoa readings for those who reserve a session and rest. Guests are also welcome to visit the town of Urubamba (10 minute moto taxi drive from the hotel).

Day 9: Sunday, September 8th

10 AM checkout and departures to Cusco For folks with later flights there will be a 1/2 day tour of Cusco provided. The city of Cusco is incredible for shopping, history, and authentic peruvian cuisine.

Room Accommodations and Pricing:

Willka T’ika’s sustainable guest rooms are made from natural earth materials and adorned with local artwork. All rooms are named for the Andean medicinal plant that grows at each room’s doorstep. 

There are spacious luxury rooms, designed using feng shui principles, including a seating area offering mountain and garden views. The cozier garden rooms are tucked away in charming spots throughout the gardens. 

Each room has its own private modern bathroom and entry to the gardens. Our welcoming Quechua staff place fresh flowers in each room, and provide hot water bottles for your bed at night. To maintain a tranquil retreat atmosphere, our guest rooms have no television sets or telephones.

What is the Refund Policy & should I get Trip Insurance?

All deposits and payments are non-refundable. We recommend getting trip insurance to cover yourself HERE.

How do you select your room?

Once you’ve made your deposit for this trip simply email admin@nextlevelyogacommunity.com to confirm which room you would like. Rooms are based on available inventory. To be honest at Willka T’ika all the rooms are next level.

Planning For The Retreat:

Purchasing your plane ticket:

Airfare is not included in the price of the retreat, we suggest buying your flight from your home city to Cusco. There will be a layover at the Lima Airport. Hopefully your layover is not too long. But if it is or if it’s overnight, Lima has a nice airport hotel that many folks will be staying at. Once you connect to your domestic flight from Lima to Cusco, we will be at the Cusco Airport to pick you up between 1-3 PM.

If you’d like to arrive a couple of days early and spend time in Lima, the coastal capital of Perú, please let us know and we will arrange transportation for you and will connect you with our favorite spots in the city.

We highly recommend that you purchase travel insurance in case there are unforeseen travel challenges with respect to COVID regulations. We will update guests as to the current travel requirements to enter and leave Peru closer to the time of the retreat.

What to pack:

Temperatures in Cusco typically fluctuate. Evening and early morning time is chilly and daytime is usually sunny and warm.  The average high is in the 70's with temps in the low 50's high 40's at night. 

Layering is the key. Here’s what we recommend you bring:

  • A light down vest or jacket

  • Long undershirts

  • At least one heavy sweater but remember, Peru has some of the best and coziest sweaters in the world made from alpaca wool!

  • Hiking boots for the Rainbow Mountain hike

  • A daypack for all of the day trips

  • A rain shell just in case

  • A water bottle

  • An empty duffle bag to carry all of your beautiful garments and artwork back home!

Gratuities

Gratuities are not included in the price of your retreat. Gratuities for the staff that will be taking care of you all week is recommended $10 per day per person. Gratutities for shuttle drivers that will be taking you to and from all of your amazing destinations is recomended at $2-5 per transfer. Gratutuities for spa treatments should be considered as well.

Meet Your Guides

Pedro Luna & Francisco Morales-Bermudez met in 2011 before Pedro had ever practiced yoga. Pedro had a broken wrist at the time and Francisco encouraged him to try it to help him heal. The two of them have been friends and change makers in the yoga and wellness community for years. They have been leading yoga classes, retreats, and trainings around the world for a combined 30 + years and are finally coming together to bring you the experience of a lifetime in Francisco's native country of Peru.

  • Pedro Luna

    Pedro has been teaching yoga since 2012. He transitioned from a corporate job in 2014 to teaching yoga full time and “figuring it out”. He has taught yoga in various parts of the world leading retreats, workshops, and being a part of teacher trainings. His mission in life is to share the gift of yoga with the world. He is the creator of Yoga With Pedro and has a thriving online yoga community. When he isn’t teaching yoga, making memes, or connecting with other teachers he enjoys spending time doing crazy challenges with his wife and their 3 children.

  • Francisco Morales-Bermudez

    Francisco is a healing artist that was born on the coast of Peru. The ocean of Peru and its mountains are his biggest inspiration. Francisco has studied under several masters in the healing & martial arts. His work has taken him deep into Peru's remote communities, North & South America, Asia, Africa, Europe & New Zealand. Francisco is the founder of Synergy Yoga & a master of Thai Massage Therapy & movement artist. His studies in the healing arts have enabled him to travel all over the world and share his wisdom.
